What it is:

A demonstration of how I used SketchUp to design a 3D model of a real-world object (my new desk), and then used that model to plan the layout of my new office.

What I did:

  • I show how I took measurements of my desk, created a 3D model in SketchUp, and then used that model to plan the layout of my new office.
  • I also show how I used the model to create a shopping list for the new office.

Design a Learning Space

Assignment:

“Create a learning space based on what inspired you during our visit to Steelcase. You might find the modalities that are listed in this document helpful to guide your thinking. Combine photos and your notes from our visit into an artifact (a hand-made drawing, a Google Doc, a Slides presentation, something else creative) and post to this Discussion.”

This is my Sketchup project. (no sign-in required!)

I used this assignment as a chance to learn Sketchup as an introduction to 3D, with further plans to learn to use Unity for cognitive science experiment design in VR.

I used our readings, our trip to Steelcase, as well as pages from a book called A Pattern Language (1977) from my dad for design tips/inspiration:
